Aluminium fluoride
Molecular formula: AlF3
Molecular weight: 83.98
Property: White crystal or powder. Relative Density 2.882,25, hard to solve in water, acid and alkali solution, insoluble in most orgno solvents and insoluble in hydrofluoric acid and liquid hydrogen fluoride; it is quite stable. When heated, it does not decompose, but sublimate. Temperature of sublimation is 1,291°C. At 300-400°C, part of it will be hydrolyzed to hydrogen fluoride and aluminum chloride by vapor.
Its hydrate include AlF3·1/2H2O, AlF3. H2O, AlF3·3H2O, AlF3·3/2H2O and AlF3·9H2O; toxic!
